Chain

This topic is studied by pupils at Key stage three and covers the enslavement and transportation of black Africans to the Americas.

Pupils learn about their lives and the conditions they were forced to endure until the abolition of slavery in America in 1870.

In many schools they go on to study the civil rights movement and the prejudice and persecution suffered by black Americans through much of the twentieth century.
