Harold Godfrey Lowe was the Fifth Officer on board the Titanic. He was 29 years old. He was asleep in his bunk at the time of the collision and eventually awoke to find everyone wearing lifebelts. He helped to load people into lifeboats and at one point fired shots into the air to maintain order. He left the ship in command of lifeboat 14. After the ship had sunk he transferred his passengers to lifeboat 12 and went back to pick up survivors. He only found 4. Lowe later rescued survivors from collapsible A. He died in 1944. |
