Herbert McElroy was the chief Purser aboard the Titanic. He was 37 years old, married with three children. As Chief Purser he was paid £20 per month.

On the night of the disaster, McElroy was kept busy returning jewellery and other items to passengers.

He was last seen standing on the boat deck and went down with the ship.
