Jack Dawson was not a real person, he was invented by James Cameron for the movie Titanic, 1997. The character of Jack was aged 19 years.  He was sailing with his friend Fabrizio, having won their tickets in a poker game.

Jack becomes besotted with Rose and persuades her that there is a freer life away from the pressures of society. 

After the collision Jack tries to persuade Rose to get into a lifeboat but she jumps back onto the ship. Jack and rose stay together and go down with the ship.

Rose clambers onto a piece of furniture while Jack remains in the water. When a lifeboat returns to look for survivors, Rose realises that Jack is dead.
