Lawrence Beesley

Lawrence Beesley was 34 years old. He was a widower with a young son and had boarded the Titanic to visit America and to see his brother in Toronto.

Beesley was reading in his cabin at the time of the collision. He went up to A deck to investigate but was told there was nothing to worry about. Beesley was not convinced and after returning to his cabin for a jacket returned to the deck.

He was allowed to board lifeboat 13.

Beesley later wrote a book about the disaster, 'The Loss of the SS Titanic' and advised Walter Lord during the filming of 'A Night to Remember'.

He died in 1967.
