The Blue and Gray Together
Words & Music by C.H. Addison

Oh hear the bugle calling,
our soldiers march away,
We decked them all with flowers and flags,
and every thing looks gay,
But many hearts are aching
and many tears are shed,
For well we know if some return,
some must sleep with the dead

[chorus]
Cheer boys cheer,
the blue and gray together,
Will rally 'round the Stars and Stripes,
in every kind of weather,
They'll fight for Cuba's freedom,
that fair isle of the sea,
They only ask one man to lead,
that man is Fitzhugh Lee

so let us do our duty,
when freedom is the cause,
Our father's fought, and bled and died,
they did not fear nor pause,
They died to save our honor,
they fought by land and sea,
Then let us strike for freedom's cause,
and make fair Cuba free.

[repeat chorus]

We'll not forget our sailors who died on board the Maine,
Their awful death should make us fight,
and conquor treach'rous Spain,
we'll blow up Morro castle,
and silence all her guns,
We will not stop 'till Cuba's free,
and every Spaniard runs.

[repeat chorus]
