Let ev'ry true American in these United States,
who loves his home and freedom and who oppression hates.
Join hands and hearts demanding in language strong and plain.
Reparation for our nation's loss in the sinking of the "Maine",
We'll teach those cruel Spaniards that though thousands they may slay
of unprotected women and men grown old and gray.
That Uncle Sam's not standing by to see his sailors slain,
and seventy millions stand as ONE to help
REVENGE the "MAINE"

[chorus]
We'll protect our nation's honor, the stars and stripes maintain
and teach those cruel treachrous Dons that we're a match for Spain.
We'll break her chains of slavery and set her captives free
and fight again as once we fought for Land and Liberty.

We'll demonstrate that though we be a nation strong for peace.
We're stronger still in time of war when such relations cease.
Our people so magnanimous so cool and self possess'd
Are exceeding slow to anger and the world they don't molest
But when in peace an enemy will steal up in the night
and place a bomb beneath our ship and sink it out of sight
It's time to don the haversack and let the bullets rain.
for seventy millions stand as ONE to help
REVENGE the "MAINE"

[repeat chorus]
