Old Glory Holds The Bay

We've heard of Dewey's vict'ry o'er the ocean,
Joyful tidings from old Glory in the bay.
We'll unite Anglo Saxon for protection,
With six vessels Dewey's heroes won the day.
Are the noble race destined to save the people
We'll drive the cruel Spaniards from the sea.
Yet remember some are in the dungeon sleeping
With a cannon ball chained to them waiting thee.

[chorus]
Call thy people in from all the cruel nations,
Bid the heathen and the slave come in to thee,
We've Sampson, Schley and Dewey, Lord to lead them,
Drive the tyrants from the Antilles of the sea.

When heroes climb the turrets of proud "Morro"
When the Ricos meet our Sampson and our Schley,
When loved ones come to tell the joyful story,
How brave Dewey gave them dew drops in the bay.
They'll get no aid while shot and shell are fallen
McKinley says my Cuba shall be free.
When the sweet recall resounds through ev'ry nation
With old Glory they'll come marching to thee.
