10. Before you analyze a Level 4 cartoon, here's a little test for you. to the left and right are two more sports metaphor cartoons. One clearly expresses the cartoonists opinion (Level 4), while the other doesn't (Level 2). Which is which? Explain why you answered the way you did.

A: Cartoon #8 is the level 4 cartoon. FDR is engaging in unsportsmanlike conduct, just because he doesn't like it that so many of his New Deal programs have been ruled out by the umpire. He even appears to be threatening the Supreme Court. Cartoon #9 uses the baseball metaphor to capture the situation, but it doesn't mean he agrees that the nine justices are too old to get their work done.
