Save Paper

ANNOUNCER #1: The welcome sound we've long been waiting for.

(sound of large shells being fired)

ANNOUNCER #1: The United States Third Fleet shelling Tokyo Bay.

(shelling repeated)

ANNOUNCER #1: ...and paper helped make it possible. Yes paper--your waste paper--makes the cylindrical cases in which virtually all shells are shipped from factory to fighting zone. When you burn paper, you destroy essential war material, but when you salvage waste paper, you help end a number one war material shortage. Save every scrap of paper. Save wastebasket scraps, magazines and books, newspapers, brown paper and bags, corrugated boxes. Bundle them separately, turn them in regularly.

ANNOUNCER #2: This transcribed announcement from the War Productions Board has been brought to you as a public service.
