Britain Through The Ages

This series provides an insight into the history of the British Isles.

Designed specifically to meet the demands of history at Key Stage 2, each book is illustrated with photographs, maps and diagrams.

Anglo-Saxons

The departure of the Romans left Britain vulnerable to attack. The invasion and settlement of the warriors who came to be known as the Anglo-Saxons heralded a new period in our history. Divided between warring kingdoms and subject to attack by the Danes, Britain was a violent place and life was hard. The reign of Alfred the Great saw the establishment of the first towns and the beginnings of an ordered society. The period was to end dramatically in 1066 with the Battle of Hastings and the death of Harold the last Anglo-Saxon king.
