As the Second World War progressed, the race for scientific intelligence, secrecy and detection brought a new dimension to warfare. The pilot-less flying bomb, or V1, emerged as the first of Hitler's new weapons, and for a brief but terrifying period rained death and destruction on the south of England until the RAF and anti-aircraft gunners learnt to counter the terrible "Doodlebug". With Allies closing in from the West and the Eastern Front crumbling, Hitler realized Germany was losing the war and his response was to give top priority to the V2. Pioneered by Werner Von Braun, it was one of the greatest advances in the technology of warfare. Capable of being launched from anywhere, Hitler pinned his hopes on this early rocket, but the V2 had come too late, draining Germany's resources and ultimately failing to alter the course of Hitler's war. Against the background of the famous campaigns which led to his eventual defeat, this DVD shows spectacular archive footage of Hitler's secret armoury as it was being developed, tested and finally used in anger.
