Disc 1. The Savage Pack

Opportunistic and adaptable, the wild dogs owe their prowess as hunters to the powerful bonds that unite each member of the pack. No other predators boast such elaborate hunting societies and none are more adept at the art of the ambush, the chase or the kill. Wherever they oam, from the forests of Canada to the savannas of Africa, they are the ‘top dogs' of their world.

Disc 2. The Crawling Kingdom

On the strength of their numbers alone, the insects and spiders are the rulers of the animal kingdom. Largely unnoticed, untold billions of the tiny arthropods stalk the Earth, armed with an astonishing array of weaponry designed to kill. Armour-clad beetles clash in life-and-death struggles while legions of army ants march through tropical forests, killing whatever hapless creatures may blunder into their path.

Disc 3. Dawn of the Dragons

When the dinosaurs were still the masters of the Earth, the crocodiles, little changed from the form they assume today, haunted the watery places of the world, waiting for their prey. Long after the demise of the dinosaurs, the crocodiles and their kin, the alligators, reign today as monarchs among the reptiles, crusty survivors who qualify among the world's most powerful predators.

Disc 4. The Giant Grizzlies

The great brown bears of Alaska have evolved a lifestyle finely tuned to the progression of the seasons. In the short Alaskan summer, cubs born in the depths of winter quickly learn to forage and hunt, beginning a struggle for survival not only against the elements, but against ferocious males of their own species. It is only the protective bond between the mother and her young that permits the fortunate few to survive their first year.

Disc 5. Eye of the Serpent

Reptiles slither through a shadowy world, superbly adapted for dominance in the deadly game of predator and prey. The monsters are the great constrictors that squeeze life from their prey with their powerful coils. But, in the serpent world, some of the smallest snakes are also the most lethal, dispatching their victims with doses of venom more potent than any other poison known to man.

Disc 6. The Dangerous Sea

In their struggle to survive, undersea animals have evolved a dazzling arsenal of defences, from armoured shells to stinging cells. Yet for every innovation in defence, nature has devised a counter-ploy, a strategy that ensures that neither predator nor prey will ever win the deadly game. From corals to moray eels and killer whales, the sea swarms with predators, and fewer than one marine creature in a billion escapes death in the jaws of another.

Disc 7. Tooth & Claw

On the dry African plains, a pride of lions stalks an unwary zebra, surprise is the key to their success. The cheetah hunts in the open relying upon its speed to outrun the Thompson's gazelle. The leopard lurks high in a thorn tree, waiting for the chance to leap onto the neck of an impala grazing below. Superbly tuned to their habitat, the great cats of Africa are key players in the saga of life and death.

Disc 8. Track of the Cat

Rarely seen, the great wild cats of the New World are creatures of mystery whose ways are shrouded in myth. The jaguar, ocelot, puma, bobcat and lynx prowl our jungles, mountains and deserts, seeking their prey. But few who have gone looking for these cats have seen more than mere tracks in the earth, or shadows in the dappled light of the forest.
