Two episodes from the 'History of Warfare' series, 'America:
Discovery To Revolution', which looks at the birth of the United States. 'The
English Frontier' and 'The American Revolution' examine the fractious
relationship between the governing British rulers and the colonials who were
demanding independence. The Stamp Act of 1765 was the first direct tax on the
colonies and the flashpoint which lead to the American War of Independence, as
many believed there should be 'no taxation without representation'. Victory saw
an end to British rule - but it also signalled the start of a bloody chapter in
American history.
