Uncle Sam, Tell Us Why Are You Waiting?
-or-
For The Honor of Our Country and Our Flag

Uncle Sam, tell us, why are you waiting?
Hear you not the call to arms?
For our noble land has been degraded,
Let us wake to war's alarms!
Sweep the earth of tyrant's sway and power,
That bind poor Cuba's sons;
Let them have the aid of fair Columbia,
thro' the might of Yankee guns.

[refrain]
Down with the foes that slow our heroes,
Down with the spies of treach'rous Spain,
down with their ships in shell and fire,
let's avenge our gallant Maine,
Though we die upon the field of battle
let our courage never lag,
and strike! strike in Freedom's names, lands,
for the honor of our country and our flag!

Uncle Sam, tell us, why are you waiting?
While your good ship sink the deep.
Up! arise from sleeping and from dreaming;
Let your guns the ocean sweep!
From the neck of poor and bleeding Cuba,
Lift the foot of tyrant Spain;
For the honor of your fair Columbia,
Let's avenge our banner's stain.
