Cuba and the Maine

Wake up ye slumb'ring people, Wake up ye war sleuth hounds,
Wake up ye sons of patriots, dost hear the dreadful sounds,
of countless thousands starving, dying
through Spains barbarity, Great God,
our love of freedom ought to give them liberty,

[chorus]
Ye men of gold and silver, Ye men of many trusts,
Ye men that have humbled our nation, Yea into the very dust,
Forget your dreadful greed for gold and think of our nations pain,
So help and God help Cuba and don't forget the Maine.

Arise ye genrous people, Arise ye nation all,
Arise all ye that are not dead to freedom's mighty call,
The die is cast the sword is drawn, arise ye men of braun,
Then strike off Cubas chains 'ere night and death succeed the morn,

[repeat chorus]

Strike, strike ye sons of freedom, Strike, strike ye drones as well,
Strike hard ye sons of patriots and sounds the despots knell,
Help the suffering thousands ere they'r cruelly done to death,
And countless thousands yet unborn, will bless with latest breath,

[repeat chorus]
