Remember The Maine

A most beautiful bright constellation,
With its glorious stripes and stars
The protector of home and the nation,
The honor shall ever be ours

[chorus]
Oh! think of the dead, and "Remember the Maine,"
Think of her deck with that red, red stain.
Oh! we will force such atonement from Spain,
That she will never, never get over the strain.

The Cuban bound down by starvation,
They have begg'd us unloose the chain
Of a cruel and tyranous nation.
Preventers of freedom's just right

"Old Glory" has known their distresses,
And has fed them from day to day
Yet pray'd God with sweet peace to bless us,
And free the bound Cubans some way

When Providence thro' the poor wreck'd Maine,
Bade us all to get ready for war
To wipe out in battle the red stain.
That clings to the brave Cuban's shore

We are all for the Union together,
'Round "Old Glory" we'll rally again
We'll down with the traitors forever,
With cries of "Remember the Maine"
