Marching Through Cuba
Words & music by Wm. B. Fairchild
Published 1898

We've blown the trumpet once again
It echoed loud and long
'Twas answered with a spirit
By a hundred thousand strong
Of good and true Americans
To right a nations wrong
While we all go marching thro' Cuba!

[chorus]
Hurrah! Hurrah! we'll set the Cubans free!
Hurrah! Hurrah! we'll bring the Jubilee
We're bound to wave old Glory
in Havana o'er the sea
While we go marching thro' Cuba

"McKinley's baby navy,
It can never reach our coast"
The pround and haughty Spaniards said
and 'twas a handsome boast
But let me say a thing or two
They do not know the host
That will all go marching thro' Cuba!

[repeat chorus]

Oh! how the Cubans they will shout
When they hear the joyful sound
The Spaniards all will tremble
When they see our navy 'round
Their Volunteers will all be scared
And running like a hound
When we all go marching thro' Cuba!

[repeat chorus]

Our Dewey! fearless Dewey!
Met the Spanish Don in fray
The Maine has been remember'd
in a most emphatic way
The Spanish ships are out of sight
Down in Manila Bay
And we'll all go marching thro' Cuba!

[repeat chorus]

Our Dewey! Yankee! Dewey!
He's the hero of the day
The Maine has been remember'd
in a very Dewey way
For Dewey sank the Spaniards
to the bottom of the Bay
And we'll all go marching thro' Cuba!

[repeat chorus]

Our Dewey! gallant Dewey!
Should be crown'd with laurels gay
The Maine has been remember'd
in a most decisive way
Their boasted navy's sunk all right
Down in Manila Bay
And we'l all go marching thro' Cuba!
