The United States has a history of stereotyping all peoples of Asian or "Oriental" descent. Following the Japanese invasion of China and the subsequent attack on Pearl Harbor, America found itself in the position of having to distinguish between the Japanese enemy and the Chinese ally in popular culture. This small booklet, A Pocket Guide to China, was produced for the American serviceman in China and includes the section, "How To Spot a Jap," by Milton Caniff.
