Conserve Sugar and Gasoline

SAILOR: Submarine making for convey off the port bow, sir, northeast three degrees by east

OFFICER: Stand by for action. Full speed ahead.

SAILOR: Aye aye, sir.

(action sounds and dramatic music)

SAILOR: There she is sir, dead-ahead through the fog.

(action sounds and dramatic music)

SAILOR: Direct hit sir, she's sinking, she's going down.

OFFICER: That's one Nazi U-boat Uncle Sam can stop worrying about. Turn back to convoy!

ANNOUNCER: Yes, one sub down. But unfortunately there's plenty more where that one came from. Every day the battle goes on--the battle for command of the seas. And part of that battle comes right into your home. The sugar bowl on your table, and if you live along the eastern seaboard, the gas tank on your car; both play an important part in America's fight. Sugar ships from Cuba, oil tankers on our east coast. These have been favorite Nazi targets. Help save ships. Help save American lives by conserving sugar and gasoline. Don't use the limit of your ration unless you really need it. Help your country win the battle of war transportation.
