The Battle of Antietam casualties totaled 11,500 from the Confederate side and 12,400 from the Union. It is also known as Battle of Sharpsburg, which was fought between Confederate General Robert E. Lee‘s Army of Northern Virginia and Union General George B. McClellan‘s Army of the Potomac.
