The belfry tower was on wheels so it would be impossible to push it up the steep slope of the motte. You could use it to get over the palisade surrounding the bailey but your approach will be seen and the castle occupants will attack you with arrows, boiling water…
You could use a catapult to fire stones at the castle but these early catapults were not very accurate and it would be difficult to hit the walls of the buildings inside the palisade. There might be a better option. Back to the game!
