Adam Curry is a podcaster, announcer, Internet entrepreneur, and media personality, known for his stint as a VJ on MTV and for being one of the first celebrities to create and administer Web sites personally. It was back in the 2000s that he first became involved in podcasting, and has been called the ‘Podfather’ because of his efforts.

Curry co-developed the concept of podcasting along with Dave Winer, a software developer. Podcasting allows individuals to create and distribute audio or video content, such as radio shows or interviews, over the internet. It enables listeners to subscribe to these “podcasts” and receive new episodes automatically.

Adam Curry played a crucial role in the creation of the first podcast client software, known as iPodder, which allowed users to download and listen to podcasts on their iPods. This innovation helped popularize podcasting and led to its rapid growth as a new form of media consumption.

Before his involvement in podcasting, Adam Curry was known for his career in the entertainment industry. He began as a VJ (video jockey) for MTV Europe in the late 1980s, where he hosted music shows. His charisma and popularity made him one of the network’s recognizable faces during that era.

I had the pleasure of interviewing him on Eyewitness History where we discussed all of this as well, as being on television with Michael Jackson and that time he spilled tea on Paul Mcartney’s carpet.
