We’re always looking for new authors. If you’re interested, you can either send us a proposed article that you’ve already written or send us a pitch for one you think would be a good fit for History On the Net. We are only accepting articles related to history (that means no articles about your SEO company or supplement pyramid scheme).
Read the instructions below. If you do not follow the instructions your message will be immediately deleted. Do not bother contacting us if your guest post is not about history.
What we’re looking for
We like interesting takes on history. Not just a point-by-point chronology of a well-known event, but articles that can offer interesting takes about major topics in history, discuss lesser-known events, or provide clever introductions to historical topics.
Take a look in our archive to see what we have published. Here are some of our major topics:
- Ancient Greek/Roman History
- Middle Ages
- World Wars One and Two
- Military History
- American History
- World History
You may submit a rough draft, a partial draft, or a short pitch (a paragraph or two summarizing your argument and why it matters to our readers) paired with an outline. The more complete your submission is, the better feedback we can give you. Keep in mind that we only accept original content—we do not publish anything that’s been published elsewhere (including on your blog).
We prefer original works but can also syndicate work that you have posted elsewhere, as long as you have the right to post it on our site.
We publish articles of anywhere between 500–2,000 words, depending on subject complexity. 1,500 words is about average. Articles may be casual in tone and content or written more formally.
We are also interested in infographs, especially if you have interesting stats and pictures on a topic in history in a nice visual format.
Do not email us if your blog post is not about history.
