Sovereign

A person who holds chief power in a country - a monarch - king or queen or other person who holds power. 

Soldier

Someone who serves in the army

Slander

To say something that is false or malicious about someone else.

Siege

To surround and attack a fortified place so that help and supplies cannot get in and the inhabitants cannot escape.

Shield Wall

A defensive line that is formed by soldiers positioned with their shields locked together.

Shell

A cardboard or metal casing that contains an explosive charge. 

Settler

Someone who moves and settles in a new region, particularly if that region has been previously uninhabited.

Serviceman

A man who is a member of the armed services - army, navy or airforce.

Secular

Something that has no connection with the church or religion.

Schutzstaffel (Nazi SS)

The SS, or Schutzstaffel, was held up as the most "racially pure" group of soldiers in the Nazi army.  Their main jobs involved protecting Adolf Hitler, and establishing and organizing the concentration and extermination camps.
